If we start looking at things, how they go about in our lives, we could chart out many stuff, certifications and work which has absolutely no meaning for our progress but we do it just for the very showcase of ours in front of ever so inquisitive world.
A small outing with your little sibling or cousin and treat him with small gift may mean great world to him, and you'll wonder what all you actually need or require to make yourself feel so great and accomplished. I can tell you this out of my experience.....a ice-gola or a packet full of balloons whatever! The sense of happiness to spend a little time with your grandparents and listen to their age old times may give them such a great happiness, which eventually will feed to your contentment quotients, which is actually much more than happiness u yield in this material world. If you start putting your head to the task and start brainstorming, you'll realise that simple things and deeds for people around you can itself get the much required the goodness to your life.
But in the progressing world, where everything is counted and valued while you are expected to be savvy, sophisticated and polished in every sense, be it money, dress-sense or for that matter language all that fancy jargons of corporate world. You'll wonder sometime in your ever-growing life the very need to get off all this fanciness and be as simple as roti-kapda and makan...and if ever you get an opportunity to visit one of those great countryside people and their lives, you'll be surprised they are the same creatures as you, rather much more contented and happier even though they are devoid of all the great luxuries of cell-phones, laptops , air conditioners, treadmills etc...Still if they stand in race with you, they will definitely score higher in most of the fundamental departments.
So, sometimes, I wonder...Are we heading in right direction Or is it just the part of game as we all say?
Leaving you on the quote by Hugh Prather:
"The components of happiness are quite simple. Happiness is gentleness, peace, concentration, simplicity, forgiveness, humor, fearlessness, trust, and now. In its true form each quality includes all the rest, for happiness is whole, and one feels whole when genuinely happy." Disclaimer: "Well, that's all just a thought; neither do I nor you can go so extremes, for the attainment of impulsive feel-good factors in such fast-paced stressful life comes in the picture every now-n-then!" :-)
